Three Signs Your Baby is Ready for Solids
- Your little angel who previously slept 12 blissful hours each night begins waking every hour, on the hour. For seven straight nights. (Sometimes I'm a little slow...)
- Your curious little one begins trying to sip out of your bottle of water. And promptly moves on to your Diet Coke, your mug of coffee, your Miller Lite.
- Baby starts eyeing every bite you put in your mouth and even attempts to take a bite out of your Cosi Club sandwich.
Not so sure about this...
Maybe it's not so bad...
I want to do it myself!

Audrey is 5 Months Old!
It really is incredible how time flies! Audrey has had a busy month. We went to a wedding in Humboldt and visited with Grandma Dru and Grandpa Mike, spent a weekend in Branson with Joe, Amanda, and Gentry, and flew to Patoka to visit family. Audrey seems to learn something new everyday and is eager to explore her world. This is how she's spending her days lately:
- Eating
- Jumping in her jumperoo
- Chewing on my blackberry (this tells me I use it too much)
- Petting the cats
- Taking walks in her stroller
- Holding her own bottle (she can hit her mouth but still hasn't mastered the tilt)
- Laughing at herself in the mirror
- Not napping (unless Grandma Dru is around)
- Eating (preferably sitting up)
- Grabbing for whatever I happen to have in my hand (a bottle of water, my fork, the remote)
- Getting licked by Sally
- Chatting, squealing, singing, grunting, raspberry-ing
- "Typing" on my keyboard
- Rolling over (again and again and again)
- Chewing on her hand (or my finger or Nate's finger or any finger that happens to be nearby)
- Smiling at her Dad
- Taking baths (still her favorite part of the day)
- Drooling
- Watching the Cardinals on TV (I know. I'm trying not to freak out about this. There's not much I can do about it since NESN blacks out the Sox games here)
- Reading books
- Sucking her toes
- Eating (have you seen her thighs recently??)

Audrey Flies Again
Since Nathan needed to be in St. Louis last week for meetings, we decided that Audrey and I would fly out to meet him so we could visit family in Patoka. I was a little nervous about flying alone with the baby, but she was an old pro after our trip home for Kate and Anna's wedding and slept the entire flight. It was a busy weekend, but we're so glad we made the trip! It was so fun to catch up with everyone and to introduce Audrey to her extended family. Audrey decided Grandma Cox is the funniest person she's ever met and rewarded her with ten straight minutes of belly laughs - apparently she's quite the comedian to a 5 month old! The trip home was a little more stressful, but we managed to survive a short delay, a mid-flight meltdown, and an expolosive dirty diaper.
This is what Audrey had to say about the delay leaving St. Louis:
We can't wait for our next flight when we head to the shore for Labor Day weekend!

Sorry - I Couldn't Resist

She Smiles (Finally)
Audrey started to smile around Memorial Day, but apparently doesn't like to perform for the camera. I've been trying (unsuccessfully) to capture that toothless grin for two months now and today I FINALLY managed to get her to smile for me - twice!
